BOTANICAL WATERCOLOURS
BOTANICAL PAINTING ARCHIVE
ARTIST STATEMENT
This series was produced as a response to a client commission request - to reflect the botanical gardens their home was next to for over 25 years. This one original watercolour work on paper expanded into a series in response again to a group exhibition at one of my representing galleries, this new series referenced the iconic English Liberty-style botanical illustration imagery as well as the William Morris school of design and incorporated the circular form which I repeat often in my work. Fifteen years on from these initial work, my botanical works are often commissions which speak to clients' personal narratives, flowers and fruit which are of importance to them and their families or which are part of special occasions marking milestones. I continuously take commission requests for original paintings from this series and add new pieces to the series every yer or two.
