Exhibition opening July 20th 2021 from 5-7pm. Cloud 9 runs form July 20th- 31st, 2021.
I've been working on the Dream Pavilion exhibition initiative since the first NZ lockdown last year and it's so amazing to finally share images of its first group exhibition, Cloud 9, which opened July 20th in Auckland at Grey Gallery in Auckland. Dream Pavilion is designed to present a revised artist-led exhibition format which adds to the contemporary art dialogue in New Zealand by opening space for exhibiting and creating new and experimental work outside a traditional gallery schedule. As well as this, the initiative endeavours to introduce new outside participants to the local ecosystem; the intention being increased diversity, and perspectives as well as opening new possibilities for New Zealand artists to gain visibility abroad.
13 artists from around New Zealand, Melbourne and London have been invited to make work which is co-created for Cloud 9, the first of what I hope will be many more exhibitions.
